The One and Only – Jen from Shawnee Mission KIA!
Header

I’ve had the pleasure of driving different KIAs for the past two years now. I know these vehicles inside and out…and I LIKE them…A LOT! Recently, I had the pleasure of actually purchasing one. WHAT?? You mean no more screaming at my kids for eating in the backseat in fear they sold my demo car?? Nope. Happily done with that!

Now, I am officially Jen, the customer, to Shawnee Mission KIA. You are probably thinking, “OH, they will give her special treatment since she is the spokesperson of the company and she writes a blog about her experiences”. Well, I SHOULD HOPE SO!! And, you are probably right. However, I have enjoyed the company of this SM team for a few years now…and I must say…I am more than honored to be apart of this family. The people who run that dealership are professionally AH-MAZING. Kind and considerate. AND, just a joy to be around. I am not just saying that because I get paid to. Didn’t you see our holiday commercial??

How could you not love this singing crew?? Best. Chorus. Ever! :)

Now it is time to meet Nick:

He was the one who sold me my first KIA. He had to deal with me, which pretty much makes him a Godsend…so lets have a moment of silence for Nick…God bless him. He was an incredible delight. He is the #1 salesperson in the dealership and it shows! He explained all my options, checked my credit and gave me the BEST deal possible. I even took the car home for the evening to test it out. Yes, I’ve driven ALMOST all the models. Only one I didn’t drive the past few years was the Optima because I thought I would prefer the SUV, Sorento, or the crossover, Sportage. But I was happily surprised I had ALL the room I needed with the Optima AND great gas mileage!! Back to Nick: He was the perfect gentleman. No hassles. No pressure. Buying a new car can be a really stressful experience. It’s a big decision with lots of options. BUT I did come to a conclusion: The 2012 KIA Optima SX. Fully loaded. (Now I’m just bragging.)

BAM!

Saying I love my car is the understatement of the year. I LUUUUUUUUUUUURVE my new car. It’s HOT STUFF!! AND I get 35 MPGs. YEP. Suck on that, gas man! I can drive weeks without filling up my tank. YIPEE! That’s  a great savings within itself!

To conclude my rant and rave about buying a car: GO GET YOURSELF A SHAWNEE MISSION KIA! You won’t regret it.

Sassy Chic SATISFACTION!

January 11th, 2012 | Posted by heyitsjen in Jen's Picks | Uncategorized - (0 Comments)

I THRIVE on great customer service. I am a leach to businesses that treat you like a king…well, in my case, a queen. Basically, treat me good, I’m a super fan for life (ahem…Shawnee Mission KIA). I guess that’s one positive way to focus my spastic energy flow. On the flip side, you don’t want to see me when I’m dissatisfied. TRUST ME, it gets real ugly…but that’s for a whole other blog.

Now…drum roll please…It’s time for the lovely (and stunningly beautiful) ladies at Sassy Chic Boutique in Mission Farms to take a bow!! The store owning beauty, Ashley Litton, provided the AMAZING gowns in the latest Shawnee Mission KIA commercial, “Red Carpet Wonders” (see below). However, that isn’t where my instant loyalty-for-life began. Sassy Chic has also dressed me for the 2010 and 2011 Mid-American Emmy® Awards (pix below). So, when I begged and pleaded asked them about styling for this commercial, I received the same kind response – “How can we help?”. These women go out of their way for the customer and they do it with style and grace. Not only are the wonderful women of SSB queens when it comes to customer service, but are powerful pageant winners themselves…so they know how to make a gal look good. If you’ve seen Miss Congeniality or Toddlers and Tiaras, you know what I’m talking about. (Insert Spanx and sticky tape here…but sans the crazy moms.)

On the same note, I HAVE to mention Shawnee Mission KIA. At a recent Christmas party, I was approached by a lovely woman. She introduced herself as my husband’s boss’s wife. I immediately improve my posture. She then proceeds to tell me about her Sorento she bought from Shawnee Mission KIA. I immediately exhale…I’m with family now! She tells me about a situation with her phone and how it wouldn’t sync up with her new car. She called Shawnee Mission KIA to figure out the issue. To make a long story short, her phone wouldn’t sync up right. Our GM felt so bad, he asked her how he could help. She replied with humor, “Well, you can buy me a new phone.”. And guess what…he did just that. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Well, of course you can!! That’s why we have the best customer service in the world (I may be a leeeeetle bias).

In conclusion to my massive praise for this amazing boutique, if you are looking for a sassy cocktail dress or gorgeous gown: THESE ARE YOUR QUEENS!! Prom season is coming up…so keep that in mind, too.

The Ultimate Xmas Underachiever!

December 15th, 2011 | Posted by heyitsjen in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

My little family loves Christmas time, but generally we rush around like idiots to get all the details of the holidays completed right up to the last second. My husband, Joe, and I decided to be “responsible” adults this year for our little ones Lily and Alex (10 and 5). We actually put our tree up a week before Thanksgiving. Insert GASP here. I was thinking…ok…good…we are gonna be in the holiday spirit for a long time and Christmas won’t pass us by this year. OHHHH, but I was sorely mistaken. Our early jump on Christmas exhausted me way too early and reminded me I had the time to be The Ultimate Christmas Overachiever. Ugh. Good feeling gone. WHAT?? You mean procrastination has it’s benefits?? Yes, sometimes I believe it does. Why? Because now I’m reminded of ALL the things we still have time to achieve to be “those people” at Christmas time. Here’s the list. Try not to get too exhausted just reading it:

1. Send out Christmas cards

I ENVY those who send out Christmas greetings. PURE ENVY. And, I love recieving Christmas cards. However, I never send them out. (Well, once in 2003) Why? Because I am lazy. I have so much respect for people who spend the time, but in all reality, I know if I do, people will give it about a two second “awe” and then throw it in the trash or tape it to their fridge to attempt to look like “those people who care, but they think their family is better looking”. My DVR’ed TV reality show time is WAY too precious to waste. My husband hates I don’t do cards…so I elect him to do it. I’m still scorned from 2003.

2. Lights on the house

In our early Christmas spirit jump start, I tried to convince my Joe to have lights professionally put on the house. I WAS IN THE SPIRIT! I LOVE Christmas lights and I thought we were going ALL OUT this year. Sadly, I was denied. This deflated my holiday high a bit. He vowed to do it himself, but has he?? No. We’re not even THAT family who has ONE bush with the “net” lights. You know that guy. He just threw it out there to appease his wife who is like me. That guy should be ashamed of himself. He probably did it one-handed so he didn’t have to put down his beer.

3. Bake cookies/treats for neighbors and friends

Do we really need to get fatter over the holidays?? I have so many parties to go to where I eat too much already, I don’t need holiday treats to make it all worse. I LOVE to eat…especially sugary yumminess…but I have so many friends who are dieting and don’t want it in the house, this just seems like a waste of time. HOWEVER, I will never deny a good Xmas treat…ever. That is a whole other issue.

4. Have a holiday party

This one we are actually doing. We are having our extended family party next week. Joe was the one who planned this if you can believe it. He was so proud of us for getting in the holiday spirit early that he volunteered us to have this annual party weeks ago. I am excited about this one, though. However, it’s settling in on Joe now because he has his “honey do” list of mopping the floor, cleaning the basement, cleaning out the pantry…etc…etc…etc. We’ll see if he decides to regret this decision.

5. Watching ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas every night

Dear ABC Family, you are playing the same movies over and over again…and they stink. I do love a good Mark Paul Gosselaar movie, but we aren’t feeling it this year. You can only watch Home Alone 2 so many time in one season and you lose me. Sorry.

6. Getting an Elf on the Shelf

I’m not even going to go there on this one. Read my friend’s blog HERE to understand my true feelings about this subject.

7. Christmas shopping

We actually have this one done already which is another reason why I am having panic attacks about being The Ultimate Xmas Overachiever. We usually are the parents who shop two days before Christmas when everything is sold out. I am proud we are organized with this listed item, but then again…there is that adrenaline rush I won’t be feeling know we got it all done in time.

OH, the list could go on and on. My question is: HOW DO PEOPLE FIND THE TIME????  And do they really enjoy doing all these things or are they doing it because of our social holiday norm we created?? I STILL haven’t wrapped the presents. They are hidden under a blanket in my closet even though I’ve had plenty of time to do so.  Sometimes I blame Thanksgiving for my unsettling holiday spirit this year. Holidays always jack up your schedule. I blogged about our Happy Thankspuking. I still have a sore back from sleeping on a blow up bed three days in a row KNOWING my own soft, smooshy bed was lonely and only 30 min. away. OH well.

Because of my attitude, I did some soul searching. I thought, “JEN, are you a bah humbug??” and “Do you need to be medicated??”, but then I realized…maybe there is such thing as TOO MUCH CHRISTMAS SPIRIT and you miss the reason for the season. Maybe I’m just being a grinch, but I really want to get back into the holiday spirit. I’ll just remind myself that I am incredibly blessed to have an amazing husband and two adorable children that love me just the way I am. And the feeling is mutual. We may not be The Griswalds, but we love each other and this time of year…even if we are lazy. I’ll just take a Xanax and call it a season. In the meantime, enjoy our holiday jingle commercial from SM KIA:

A new KIA commercial, of course!!

The staff at Shawnee Mission KIA hopefully has a new found respect for the Entertainment World. It’s NOT as glamorous as you think!! We blew that theory out of the water yesterday when we shot our latest holiday themed commercial at the dealership. Festive caroling combined with a original KIA holiday soundtract by BicMedia (sung my moi), made for a very, VERY long and tiring day. Squats, you ask?? That’s where the TIRING DAY comes in. Popping into every shot takes a toll. Whipped Cream?? Yes, lots of it up my nose. That stuff is STICKY!! Red lipstick?? I left a trail everywhere I went with that red madness. It’s some powerful stuff.

All in all, it was definitley the most fun we’ve had on a shoot…all because of the incredibly silly staff at Shawnee Mission KIA. They might think twice before being apart of a commercial shoot again…but I think I can bribe them with some hot cocoa! :)

Much love to you all,
Santa Jen

Watch. Rinse. Repeat.

There are many commercials we’ve filmed that I just love. We are reviving one of my favorites: The Madam Jen ad. We aired it for the first time last December. In the original script, we were going to have a skull and bones appear instead of the rings and baby. The next line was “uh…you better hurry”. We figured it would be just a little too morbid, plus you really don’t want buying a car and skill and bones to be associated. I’m happy with our finished product. Be looking for it in the next few weeks! Enjoy…

Happy Thankspuking!

CAUTION: THIS POST IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART or for people who don’t like to read about vomit.

Oh, it’s the most wonderful time of year: The holidays. It all starts with Thanksgiving. I do enjoy this holiday. I can’t resist a good turkey and some homemade stuffing and a slice of chocolate pie and…well, you get the picture. However, one thing I can resist: Everyone getting the flu. Trust me, I’m not a germaphobe. I will be the first one to eat food off your plate, but after my experience this year, I might be thinking twice…MIGHT. It all started out innocent: The kids playing, adults chit-chatting, grandma reminding me not to eat too much pie, but as the night pressed on, so did my son’s hand on his stomach as he complained about an ache. At first I thought nothing, gave him some Sprite and he went off and played. Then, he curled up in my arms and opted out of playing. YEP, that’s when you know it’s gonna get ugly. After about 30 min., he gave me the look. YOU KNOW THAT LOOK. He wanted to go to the bathroom. So, we rushed to the toilet and before I could  say pecan pie – boom – the puking began. I didn’t think my five year old’s stomach could hold that much! I think I saw a boot. Poor baby. OH, but that’s not all. My sister in law started to complain, then my little nephew…OH NO! The community toliet soon became quarentined for only the flu victims. What a mess. This proceeded for the next 24 hours. So, the moral of the story is…get a flu shot before visiting the family for the holidays. If not, you may be risking a Happy Thankspuking.

It never fails…

One of the many perks of my job (as me) is they give me cars. OH YEAH!! I have driven almost every KIA out there…and I love them. REALLY, Jen?? Are you just saying that because you have to?? NOPE…I mean it. If I didn’t do what I do, I’d sell these cars. I have had the pleasure of driving the Soul, Sorento and Sedona long term. The KIA Soul is for the hip, music lover. My favorite part of this car is the lights that flash to the beat around the speakers. Never fails to entertain. Then there is the Sorento. Super classy SUV. Plenty of room and elegance…this one just might be my fave. AND THEN…the Sedona. The mini van (du du duuuuun). So many people have this stigma of “the mini van”. It’s just not cool enough. Yes, I admit I was that person. Never would I EVER, I thought. And then I drove the Sedona. So much room along with the luxury of the other cars. I was sold. Plus, the smooth ride and pick up. That car can GO, people!  Not that I will be drag racing anytime soon, but don’t test me. Too tempting. OH…and with the Sedona, I became mom of the year. I have never heard my kids cheer so loudly when they entered the Sedona for the first time.  It’s hands down my kiddos fave. Currently I am driving the Sedona. I’ve driven it before and this time I’ve had it for a few weeks now. It never fails, as soon as the garage door opens when my kids get home from school, I hear the cheers of delight coming from the garage door. “WE HAVE THE SEDONA! WOO HOO!!” Yep, mom of the year.
